The Ettamogah Pub in these photographs is situated North of Brisbane along the Bruce Highway on the Sunshine Coast of Australia. We travelled along the Bruce Highway on our way to Noosa Beach.
A local patron of the hotel told me that there is an Ettamogah Pub in every State of Australia.
I was driving our rental car before we arrived at the Ettamogah Pub. I was relived of driving duties after sampling some of the Victoria Bitter beer which was on tap at the bar. We stayed for quite a few beers and I took the photos in the table below.
There was a barbeque in the late afternoon and we had some nice sausages and bread before we left to return to Brisbane.
Australia's Sunshine Coast (est pop 2004: 207,229) is the Queensland coastal region north of the state capital Brisbane. The Sunshine Coast includes three Local government areas, the Noosa Shire in the north, the Maroochy Shire in the middle, and the City of Caloundra in the south. The Sunshine coast is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the east, and extends to the local government boundaries beyond the Blackall Ranges to the west. Occasionally, the town of Gympie which is 30 minutes drive north of Noosa Heads, has been included in a broader definition of the Sunshine Coast region.
Other localities within the Sunshine Coast region include Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland, Maroochydore, Buderim and Nambour.
The region is characterized by beautiful beaches, expansive coastal views and rich fertile soils in the hinterland. The Sunshine Coast produces many varieties of tropical fruit and nuts, and until recently sugar cane.
The Sunshine Coast is a centre for tourism. It contains attractions such as Steve Irwin's famous Australia Zoo, UnderWater World marine park, Aussie World with the Ettamogah Pub, The Buderim Ginger Factory, Big Pineapple and the Majestic Theatre.
The Sunshine Coast is accessible by the Bruce Highway, or by CityTrain's North Coast Line with bus connections provided by Sunbus.
Youth Culture on the Sunshine Coast is limited to a small number of facilities. The most popular of youth areas is the Sunshine Plaza, a large river-side shopping centre located in Maroochydore close to the mouth of the Maroochy River. This is where many diverse groups gather for shopping, fun and entertainment with cinema complex and casual dining.
Due to its proximity to the beach, the Coast has a strong Beach culture. Many surfers live on the coast, with beaches such as Mooloolaba famous for their cleanliness and large waves.
I used a Kodak DX7590 5.0 mega pixel digital camera to photograph these images. They were taken in Sep 2005.
